Mary Wittenberg appointed to Board of Directors
Let’s Do This is today announcing the appointment of renowned sports executive Mary Wittenberg as its newest board member to provide strategic vision and critical industry experience as it accelerates its growth through the UK and expands to the United States.
Wittenberg's experience as a global sport and fitness leader, combined with her track record of building brands and championing diversity and inclusivity, will help accelerate the organization's progress that earlier this year announced a fresh $60M funding round.
Sam Browne, Co-Founder and CEO of Let's Do This commented:
“There really is no one better placed than Mary to join the LDT journey at this stage. She understands the value of sport and exercise as a tool to bring communities together better than anyone, and has been a trusted advisor since we first met in 2016. I’m thrilled she’s now going to be leading us through our next period of growth. Combined with her deep knowledge of the industry and proven ability to create value, this is a hugely exciting milestone for us. I’m excited to work closely with her as we focus on supporting partner race directors and participants alike.”
Wittenberg brings a wealth of senior executive experience to the organization. While CEO of New York Road Runners and Race Director for the TCS New York City Marathon for a decade, the race grew to the world's largest with over 50,000 participants annually, and she co-founded the Abbott World Marathon Majors (an alliance of six of the world's best marathons). Her recent leadership roles in endurance sports have included Commercial President of E.F. Education First Pro Cycling and Founding CEO of Richard Branson's Virgin Sport. She deepened her commitment to women's sports as founding President, Pro of start-up League One Volleyball.
Speaking about her appointment, Wittenberg said:
"Since I first met co-founders Sam Browne and Alex Rose, I've been moved by how deeply they care about growing the endurance industry and their mission to use technology to bring people together offline. I'm proud to officially join the LDT journey, working with a truly world-class team and exceptional product that helps race directors in the USA and globally grow their events and reach new audiences."
